Demolition Regulations
- Demolition of a structure will only be permitted if the proposed demolition and/or replacement would improve the quality of the built environment.
- All service connections must be removed before demolition begins.
- An acceptable security deposit of $1.00 per square foot of the lot under consideration shall be posted by the developer upon issuance of a development permit for a demolition in order to ensure that the intended re-development proceeds. The security deposit is to be released upon development officer confirmation of the completion of the development as per the approved development permit.
- Demolition must be accompanied by an approved redevelopment plan to the satisfaction of the development officer.
- Demolition of a structure 40 or more years old or listed in the Yukon Historic Sites Inventory shall be processed in accordance with the provisions of the Heritage Bylaw, and must be approved by Council in consultation with the Heritage Advisory Committee.
